OUR STORY

The Charcoaler Drive-In is a family run business since 1961. Robert B. Cox Sr. started the restaurant with his wife Wilma. The Charcoaler was the first drive thru with an intercom in El Paso. There have been a few locations around El Paso but only one remains. The last remaining location is run by Robert B. Cox Jr. who bought the business from his father in 1986. Today there are three generations working, Wilma Cox, Robert B. Cox Jr. and Christine Cox.

Since 1961 we have been unique. We grind our own meat to make a perfect patty that is coupled with our signature BBQ sauce resulting in a very special hamburger. We also make home made onion rings, and fried pies for a sweet treat.

The Charcoaler Drive In is a "old school joint" where you can drive up in a convertible order a good meal and a chocolate shake and sit and enjoy the company of your friends and family.
